Makalu Base Camp Trekking

Our today’s day is spent by sightseeing all around Kathmandu Valley. Having a breakfast we will visit Pashupatinath (regarded as the holiest temple of Lord Shiva). Next will be Bauddhanath (Little Tibet). Then Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) is our next destination.  Lastly we will drive to Kathmandu (Basantpur) Durbar Square. It will end our Kathmandu tour we will return back & make preparation for our trekking.

Early morning enjoying breakfast at Kathmandu, we will move to airport to fly over Tumlingtar. Our flight will be undistributed for hours. We will be offered with glorious mountainous views with greenery hills. Arrival on Tumlingtar we will take our luggage and have short drive to Chichila for night.

Having a breakfast we will resume our journey to num. We need to pass from many ridges. It may be a bit difficult in walking but we will be gifted with the spectacular view of Makalu Mountain in the northern part. Walking few hours we will reach Mure for lunch. Resting for some time we will continue walking to Num for our night.

Our today’s trekking route is little bit tiresome & strenuous. Leaving the main trail, we descend to Arun valley. The phenomenal goes for about 1 to 2 hours in a thick jungle. Crossing Arun River we need to climb to other side to Seduwa. Walking on non trekking route, we will see only very few number of trekkers.

From Seduwa we will continue to Tashigaon. We will cross ridge bounded by Ipsuwa Khola on west & Kasuwa Khola to east. Continuing our further way we enter to Makalu Barun national park. The main trail will leads us to Tashigaon where surrounding is tranquil and we can take rest for night after a backbreaking walk for about 5 hours.

Early morning having breakfast we resume our journey to Khongma. We will be walking on attractive valley of Barun Valley. It will be so much impressive for us. Passing through pine and rhododendron forests, we can enjoy superb view of surrounding. In this way we reach Khongma for oour night.

Today, is rest taking day, after walking continuously for many days. We will not just rest; we will spend our whole day by visiting around Tseram. It will offer us bodies to catch up with us before gaining more height.  Exploring settlements around Khongma, we will return back to our camp for our night.

With a nice accumulation at Tseram, we will be crossing Shipton La pass to reach our destination Debotay. It will be mesmerizing trek on beautiful valley. We will be offered with glorious views of Chamlang, Peak 7, and Peak 6 on our way. Walking whole day in a difficult path we will lastly be at Debotay for our night.

In rocky trial we will walk to Yangle Kharka. It is will be very good area of Makalu Barun national Park after crossing long suspension bridge of barun River. Walking on the humpty dumpty trial of forest walk will be so much interesting. Like this we will reach Yangle Kharka for our night.

Without stopping we continue our journey to Merek. In the beginning we have easy path. As we are gaining height above 4000 m, it will be tough in walking. We will accumulate our self in different viewpoints. During our walk we will be pleased with many panoramic views. Like this we will be at Merek for our night at tented camp.

Resuming our journey leads us to Shersong. Humpty dumpty trial we offer us the beautiful view of south ridge of Mount Makalu. Our walk passes through yak pastures and boulder fields. Then only we will be able to reach shersong for our night. We will have leisure time & we will spend it by roaming around villages.

Today is the main day of our whole trekking. As we will reach on Makalu base camp complete our destination. It will be tough walking on uphill trail. It is long day trekking so we need to start earlier. Over here we will be enjoyed with superb view of surrounding. Hiking up to Makalu base camp, we spend our sometime and we again return back to Shersongfor our night.

Achieving our dream it’s time to return back. We will return back to Yangle Khaka. From here we will be gifted with last glimpse of Mount Makalu before turning to corning. Walking through forest of blue pine & rhododendron, we reach Yangle Khaka for our night at tented accommodation.

From Yangle Khaka we continue our walk to Mumbuk. It is walking on downhill track. We can encounter rock fall views during our walk. Viewing this we hike to small village of local community people. We can explore their local culture. It is known as Mumbuk where we stay our night. 

We take our initial steep climb to Khongma. We will be walking through a forest of firs & rhododendrons. Glorious views of surrounding will be so much impressive. We will cross Keke La and Shipton La. Crossing Ghurung La; we descend down to Khongma again for our night at tented accommodation.

It is the time of returning journey after completing our dream project. We will return back through the same track. We will be fully relaxed as our returning journey is very easy. We will be offered with the same things but our looking angle will be different. We will rest fully as we have just climbed up Makalu Base Camp.

In our returning journey it will be so much easy in walking. We just need to trek downward following the main trial to reach Num. The same beauty of nature with mountain ranges from different angel will be so much impressive. Continuing in downhill track we will reach Num for our night.

Our today’s walk will be the last walk of our trekking. We will walk through the main track of Chichila. We will be walking on flat & downhill trial. It will be very easy in our returning journey. On reaching Chichila we will make confirmation of our tomorrow’s flight to Kathmandu and rest remaining time.

We will catch early morning flight from Tumlingtar to Kathmandu. We will leave the picture of Makalu Base Camp valley behind us and fly towards Kathmandu. We will be offered with glorious mountainous views with greenery hills. We will be shifted to our hotel. And we will spend our remaining time by shopping.

Spending a rest night at Kathmandu, it’s a time for returning back to your home land. There will be a small farewell program for you. You will be guided all the things of returning journey by our team for your departure. Hope you will be back to Nepal to visit the remaining side of beautiful Nepal.
